Grand Central’s 35,000 square foot main concourse is located in the geographical center of the terminal and is one of the most recognizable public spaces in the world. During Dear New York it would become home to a 360-degree immersive installation surrounding commuters with vignettes from Humans of New York. Sixteen high-powered Barco projectors broadcast an eight-channel storytelling experience onto the massive Caen Stone columns encircling the space. Setting aside its longstanding rules limiting main concourse activations to late evening hours, the MTA allowed Dear New York to run continuously for the full 22-hours that the Main Concourse was open to the public.
