The Grand Central Subway Station is the second largest in the NYC transit system, with three separate levels served by twenty-two entrances. Dear New York transformed this subterranean cave system into an immersive gallery of portraits and stories from the Humans of New York collection. The customized vinyl installation was designed pro-bono by Pentagram Partner Andrea Trabucco-Campos, and represented the largest and most customized use of physical space in the history of the MTA. The typography was chosen by Trabucco-Campos to mirror that used in the early mosaics of the subway system, and would provide a consistent visual identity throughout the rest of the installation.
